Anti-Bulling Day: Kindness is Universal

Anti-bullying day began when some high school boys in Nova Scotia organized a protest to wear pink to support one of their peers who was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. They took a stand against bullying by heading to a discount store, buying 50 pink tank tops, and distributing the tanks tops to all the boys in their school – and to take a stand against bullying. It spoke volumes on how a small idea can make a difference, and that “kindness is universal – it is truly an act where one size fits all”.

Since this act of courage in Nova Scotia, Anti Bulling Day has become a revolution across Canada. Schools, businesses, programs and educational institutions all over our country have joined forces to have a stand against bullying. By purchasing and wearing the pink shirts that have been created to symbolize this day, funds have been raised to help programs such as Kids Help Phone, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, YWCA and Canadian Red Cross, to name a few. All of these programs and resources help to support our children and to prevent bullying in Canada.
