Monika Schnarre was the youngest model ever to win FORD Modeling agency’s Supermodel of the World competition. She has been featured on the pages of Sports Illustrated and Vogue. Today, she is a Canadian model, actress, business owner, wife and mother. Monika and her husband, Storey Badger, have been married for five years and have a three-year-old-son, Bode Badger.
Monika and Storey are big supporters of men’s health and have joined #TeamThomas to help FUN-raise in support of Movember. UBT had the opportunity to speak with Monika about the campaign.
UBT: Tell us about the Campaign
MS: Thomas the Tank Engine invited us, my family and me, to give his Movember campaign a voice this year. My husband Storey is growing a Mo and we’re all raising funds and awareness for Movember and the wonderful work they do. My son Bode is three and he loves Thomas and we’ve loved seeing Thomas’ new moustache ever week as the campaign progresses. We’ve also been promoting the campaign on social media and getting all of our friends and extended family involved.
UBT: Why is it important for the whole family to participate?
MS: Since I have a son, men’s health is extremely important to me and family. As a father, my husband also wants to make sure he can be around and active and healthy for his son.
It’s important to give back to a cause that has raised so much money for men’s health and all of the programs they support. As we raise awareness and funds for this campaign with Thomas, we can get the younger generation involved and show them the importance of giving back.
UBT: Why did Thomas get involved?
MS: It’s Thomas’ 70th anniversary this year so it’s about time he grew a moustache! The values of the Movember Foundation actually match perfectly with those of Thomas. Thomas originated when a father told his son, who was ill, stories about the trains nearby, and eventually carved a wooden train from a broom handle, the very first Thomas. Mattel has rereleased a replica of that original wooden Thomas toy this year that you can buy for yourself.
UBT: Tell us about Movember
The Movember Foundation is a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, longer lives. Since 2003, millions have joined the men’s health movement, raising $677 million and funding over 1,000 programs to assist those living with prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity. During the month of November, participants are encouraged to grow a moustache, join a team and donate in order help change the face of men’s health worldwide.
So anyone who has a Mo page can join #TeamThomas!
